Patricio Sarmiento, Fashion Designer, at the Maison d’Exceptions show

(English subtitles available)

“My first reaction to a technique, object or material, is to go and touch it. If the touch pleases me, I appropriate the material. As I work for accessories, I immediately imagine what I can do or how I can mix it or transform it.

In my projects, artisanship is the basis of creation. The designer contributes as much as the artisan does. One must be very generous and not have fear that an artisan will steal a designer’s ideas, perhaps it will be a source of inspiration but it will never be identical.

Once one masters a know-how or a material, creative freedom is given. Otherwise we would be limited.”
