S/S 21 MUST-HAVE COLOURS for menswear

The menswear colours from the spring summer 21 range share the same impressive balance of warm and cool tones as the season’s women’s shades, ready to bring out the new season’s creative perspectives. Whether reflecting a desire to dream up a reinvented and positive future, or an urge to give body to lightness, celestial blues and warm, benevolent lights take centre stage.

Check out our selection of fabrics reflecting colour harmonies for the men’s market drawn from the Première Vision colour range for S/S 21.

The colour range and harmonies for the Spring Summer 21 men’s market reflect two main thrusts. On the one hand, there’s a certain frugality, with barely tinted neutrals, with the chic restraint of “buttery moss”, “limestone” and the celestial blue “sky on earth”. On the other hand we find bold colourways worked principally in blues like “blue leap”, which are contrasted with luminous warm shades.

Jackets and pants

In jackets and pants, workwear details are among the season’s highlights, with a subtle blend of functional cuts and outfits worked in a chic urban spirit, sophisticated by a cottony fineness and freshness. Here we can imagine cigarette pants with cargo pocket details on ultralight pinstriped corduroys with a dry handle or cotton denims. The appeal of these fabrics derives from their irregular aspects, and the freshness of their handles, enhanced by frugal pale tones or almost optical whites.

In jackets, the season’s parkas are worn oversized and combine high-technology and performance – water-resistance, feather weights – with cottony aspects thanks to new matt polyester blends and protective polyamides. These can be envisioned in typically casual colourways such as “seaweed salad.”

Short, full-cut blousons, windbreaker-style, feature papery handles with the lightness of tracing paper, given new body thanks to the delicacy of the “sky on earth” shade. Featherweight polyamides are also enhanced with fantasy aspects and irregular or lightly wrinkled, almost lively, surfaces, perfect for warm hues like “feral earth”.

Shirts & tops

In shirts and tops, linen plays an important role while proudly vaunting its fineness and lightness. Shirts play off a sophisticated casual look and grow fuller.

In colour-woven versions, graphic choices are simplified, with a pared-down look to checks and stripes. Banker, stick and tennis stripes remain highly refined classics, updated by clean stripes in blue versions or in “sea lettuce” and “rainforest” greens.

Knits are fine but more solid, playing on texture and other surface irregularities. Basket-weaves and piqué variations are moving into the market and progressively filling in for plain jerseys. Blends of cotton and new responsible and performant fibres, such as ©Sorona, step into polo styles. Whether solid-toned or worked in colourblock, with mixes featuring “blue leap” and “honey beam,” they are well suited to an energetic urban style direction.

The colour range for S/S 21 menswear is set off by its truly impressive balance. Blues are clearly favoured in frugal or bolder versions to play off monochromes, or in an opposite vein, to work in dynamic contrasts, perfectly underpinning menswear silhouettes veering towards more sophisticated casual looks.
