Cangiari, fashion… for a change

Taking its name from the verb in Calabrian dialect meaning to change, Cangiari is an eco-ethical fashion brand that was born in 2009 with the support of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion.

It is notable for its use of hand-loomed fabrics rooted in the ancient weaving techniques of Calabria. This Hellenistic and Byzantine heritage is fused with research and innovation that, in tandem with direct control over the production chain, results in precise garments with a tailored finish.

Cangiari also produces their fabrics and garments with organic yarns and dyes as part of their commitment to sustainable development – their fabrics are GOTS international certified.
Note that the spring-summer 2014 collection from the house is the first to have been designed by the new creative director Paulo Melim Andersson – who previously collaborated with the houses Martin Margiela, Chloe and Marni – and was presented in Rome in July and in Paris in October 2013.
