With a growing level of environmental consciousness worldwide, sustainable materials have naturally come under the spotlight. “Green fibres” such as biodegradable, natural, regenerated and recycled fibres are examples of these sustainable materials.

Sateri (under the Singapore-based RGE group), is one of the world’s leading viscose fibre producers, with integrated production capabilities covering the planting of seedlings, sustainable plantation management, fibre production and yarn spinning operations, and hence plays an important role of the sustainable value chain. In 2019, Sateri announced a US$200million investment on the development of innovative, closed-loop, circular and climate-positive fibre solutions.

EcoCosy® is Sateri’s flagship viscose fibre brand established in 2019. Sourcing from sustainably managed plantations and produced in world-leading manufacturing facilities, EcoCosy® redefines the viscose product experience. Eco-friendly solutions for spinners form the core advantage for products under the EcoCosy® brand. For instance, EcoCosy® BV fibre helps spinners reduce energy consumption by improving productivity by 20 percent and decrease carbon dioxide emission during the production stage, compared to cotton and polyester production. EcoCosy® Colour fibre uses an advanced pre-spun injection and blending technology in the fibre production to reduce water, chemical and energy consumptions compared with traditional dyeing processes. And compared with cotton, EcoCosy® also has higher moisture absorption and breathability to ensure a touch and feel that is comfortable and friendly to the skin.

The fabric contains EcoCosy® fibre which can create a smooth fabric appearance, soft texture and vibrant colors. The fibre can also be blended well with various textile fibres to create different fabric styles. The EcoCosy® collections are widely used in garments and home textile applications by leading brands, including Anta, Nautica, Sketches, Lafuma, etc..

In 2020, Sateri introduced FINEX®, an innovative cellulosic fibre containing recycled content, made from bio-based natural fibres derived from a mix of recycled pre and post-consumer textile waste, and certified wood pulp from renewable plantations. In addition, Sateri also launched Lyocell fibre, which has been manufactured using closed-loop technology, requiring minimal chemical input, and utilising an organic solvent that can be 99.7% recovered and recycled.

Sateri green fibre portfolio, comprising EcoCosy®, FINEX® and Lyocell, provides holistic fibre solutions to the apparel industry that are geared towards protecting the environment, supporting the value chain and providing for consumers’ needs. Through innovation and care, Sateri touches lives and creates positive impact for the planet.
