GLOBAL EVENTS FOR FASHION PROFESSIONALS

Talk – Fashion and climate change: From upstream to downstream, what initiatives could you envision for your brand?

Presented by Aurore Maire, Director of Strategy and Sustainable Consumption Consulting at UTOPIES, Arthur Binninger, Climate Strategy Manager at UTOPIES, Maximilien Ripoche, Director of Operations at Résilience and Guillaume Gibault, Chairman Le Slip Français.

At a time when several of fashion’s many faces conflict yet make money – from ultra-fast fashion to the booming economy of reuse and second-hand goods – the fashion sector as a whole seems increasingly aware of its pivotal role... Yet it isn’t easy for an industry player to find their way through the sea of issues facing the sector, especially when value chains have fragmented and promises are sometimes misleading (50% of the cotton from India stated to be organic is not!)

What market opportunities exist today for a business that wants to make a responsible transition in its production chain? What are the challenges of such a transition, and why should it be brought together with other industry issues, such as the pressure on biodiversity and social impact? Finally, how can we implement a pro-climate brand strategy – beyond the oft-maligned promises of carbon neutrality – to drive the necessary behavioural changes in our society?

30min Talk in French with simultaneous translation in English.
