SEAQUAL INITIATIVE presents SEAQUAL® YARN – Together for a Clean Ocean

(Sponsored content)

Since the 1950’s humanity has created 8.3 billion tons of plastic. It is estimated that approximately 4.6 billion tones are in landfill or have been lost in our environment. Every year 12 million tons of plastic finds its ways to our oceans, our most valuable shared resource. And this figure is growing year by year. Once in the ocean, the plastic either floats, sinks, or is washed back to our shores.

The ocean gyres where plastic concentrates on our ocean’s surfaces are well publicized, but the reality is that they represent only 1% or 2% of the total. The highest concentrations of marine plastic are found in the waters along our coasts, on our beaches and entering our oceans via rivers. Today, hundreds of ocean clean-up projects exist around the globe, from small community action groups to national and even internationally funded programs.

SEAQUAL INITIATIVE works with NGOs, coastal communities, fishermen and local authorities to help clean our oceans. Marine litter recovered from our oceans, beaches and rivers is transformed into SEAQUAL® MARINE PLASTIC, a fully traceable sustainable raw material.

SEAQUAL® YARN, the first commercially available product made with SEAQUAL®MARINE PLASTIC, was launched in 2017. Today over 1,600 brands and manufacturers in over 60 countries have joined SEAQUAL INITIATIVE and are inspiring consumers with an amazing range of environmentally conscious products made with SEAQUAL® YARN.

SEAQUAL® YARN is a high quality 100% recycled polyester fiber for an environmentally conscious textile market. SEAQUAL® YARN is almost identical in physical properties to virgin polyester and is available in a variety of sizes and finishes (in both continuous filament and staple fiber).

SEAQUAL® YARN is trusted by apparel brands such as PUMA, HUGO BOSS, IKKS, PAUL & SHARK, WACOAL, LACOSTE, STONE ISLAND, GANT, and JACK WOLFSKIN.

The SEAQUAL INITIATIVE community has the power to effect real change by raising awareness of plastic pollution, supporting ocean cleaning and bringing value to waste. “TOGETHER FOR A CLEAN OCEAN.
