S/S22 Denim: comfort and distinction The - Denim Première Vision
Two main influences stand out this Spring Summer 22 denim season. These two directions – suppleness and comfort and fineness and distinction – can be found side by side, and display an easy ability to adapt and move between each other. A season that fearlessly mixes up genres and styles, providing deceptive contrasts alongside ideas for less traditional harmonies.
SUPPLENESS
Suppleness is approached three ways this season, with each of them procuring a feeling of comfort and well-being.
Agile suppleness
A fine, agile suppleness for denim that slips through the fingers, with blends with Lyocell (made from wood pulp) producing smooth, soft and breathable products. This biodegradable fiber imparts a feeling of delicacy when touched. A suppleness that lends itself to inviting folds with a nice fall rather than a weighty drape, for clothes with comfort and appeal. Updated homewear, for fluid pants and full shirts that melt against the skin.
Soft suppleness
A second kind of suppleness derives from truly gentle, eco-friendly washes that impart a softer suppleness to products. In combination with soothing and gently washed colors, these qualities are mostly 100% organic cottons. A more relaxed spirit, for long jackets, and straight, wide pants that freely adapt to the body’s movements.
Generous suppleness
Lastly, a dense, generous, much thicker suppleness stands out, with quite marked weaves and accentuated visuals. This version of suppleness gives rise to supremely malleable qualities that target our desire for a certain palpability, and enveloping products with a plump look. Casual silhouettes with exaggeratedly wide mid-length jackets.

PERFECTED & DISTINGUISHED
The appeal of sophisticated, more structured denims emerges in two ways.
Perfected
A more citified, technical denim, raw and perfect product developments, with smooth, uniformly colored surfaces showcasing their durability. More rigid handles convey an obvious strength. Straight jeans, belted jackets, products combined with urban-look accessories (reinforced padding, sturdy buckles), in a continuation of an endlessly reinvented urban mobility. Timeless essentials with updated compositions to further their appeal, calling on a pared-down simplicity, also seen in labels, with their straight typography and spruce flat tints.
Distinguished
Sophistication this season is conveyed through meticulously elaborated weaves. Neatness, fineness and precision are essential here, and transport denim into a more chic universe. Denims go from city to evenings out, with mini-herringbones in pure linens that lend a rhythm to surfaces, and deep, intoxicating, subtly gleaming shades. A timid shine is revealed in light and agile products. Behaviors that are just right for more floaty outfits, fleeting summer dresses, pleasing pants and shirts that lightly blow in the breeze. In accessories, shine is more pronounced, with almost holographic labels and iridescent gradations.
