Première Vision Paris: 22 European federations issue a joint call for a sustainable fashion industry
Gathered at Première Vision Paris, 22 European textile and fashion federations have launched a joint call to defend the competitiveness of the industry and promote a sustainable and responsible model.
At a time when the textile and fashion sector is undergoing unprecedented transformations, Première Vision Paris 2025 has established itself as a decisive moment: a hub for meetings, innovations, and collaborations for an industry seeking sustainable solutions. More than just a trade show, the event opened new perspectives for rethinking the future of the sector.

This edition also served as the stage for an unprecedented institutional mobilisation. Twenty-two federations from seventeen European countries (Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland) gathered under the aegis of UFIMH, UIT ans Euratex. Together, they issued a joint declaration to defend the European industrial model, reaffirm the sector’s competitiveness, and denounce the excesses of ultra-fast fashion.
In their statement, they warn against the harmful consequences of a model built on the overproduction of disposable garments: a surge in textile waste, unfair competition for companies respecting regulations, and the weakening of local retail. They also stress that ultra-fast fashion relies on practices that clearly violate European rules, including VAT and customs fraud, intellectual property infringement, misleading claims, and the exploitation of workers in unacceptable conditions.
In response, the federations are calling for: • Member States to regulate the placing on the market of these products and to support companies committed to quality and sustainability; • European institutions to make the fight against ultra-fast fashion a priority, by tightening customs controls and abolishing the privileges currently enjoyed by these players; • Consumers to make more responsible choices and support brands engaged in a sustainable transition. |
Through this joint declaration, Première Vision Paris has confirmed its role as a strategic platform for dialogue and institutional representation, where the European textile and fashion industry spoke with one voice to defend a fairer, more responsible, and more sustainable model.
