Première Vision Denim

The world of denim continues to evolve at the intersection of heritage and innovation. For the upcoming season, to be unveiled at Superstudio Più in Milan in May 2026, Denim Première Vision introduces three key thematic directions shaping both inspiration and development: Historical Archives, Elevated Core, and Cultural Denim. Here is a first glimpse of what will be showcased at the event, during trend seminars and exhibitor presentations.

Historical Archives

A layered reinterpretation of historical references and grand artistic heritage, where past eras, silhouettes, and techniques are reworked into a contemporary, expressive lens—subtly anachronistic. Within this theme, fabrics echo the richness of textile history: velvets, satins, and jacquards reminiscent of upholstery and interior furnishing textiles. A sense of depth, ornamentation, and tactility re-emerges, elevating denim beyond its traditional codes.

Discover at the show: laser printing by Tonello

High-definition imaging technology enables near-photographic rendering, bringing to life visuals inspired by Italian frescoes and classical still lives. Dramatic contrasts and chiaroscuro washes unfold across indigo surfaces, infusing garments with a painterly, almost cinematic dimension.

Elevated Core

Its codes extend into new categories, influencing tailoring, structured silhouettes, and more formal constructions. This approach refines the essential: enhancing materials, finishes, and constructions to create pieces that are both elevated and versatile. The everyday becomes sharper, more intentional, more sophisticated.

Discover at the show: Advanced Trompe l’œil denim by Next Printing – ACM

Next Printing - ACM expands denim’s visual language through advanced printing techniques applied to a wide range of materials. Gabardines and cottons are transformed with hyper-realistic denim effects, sometimes evoking knit structures—blurring boundaries and redefining perception.

Cultural Denim

Denim becomes a medium for cultural expression, rooted in territories and local expertise. Innovation emerges from proximity—through regional know-how, locally sourced raw materials, and identity-driven approaches. Each fabric reflects a specific context and expertise, reinterpreting classic denim codes through a more grounded, authentic perspective.

Discover at the show: regenerative cotton by Sharabati

Selvedge fabrics developed in yarn-dyed or piece-dyed beige tones, crafted from 100% premium regenerative cotton. Backed by Regenagri certification, these developments support farming practices that enhance soil health, boost biodiversity, and support carbon sequestration. This label provides a continuous improvement framework that tracks and verifies regenerative progress across farms and agribusinesses worldwide, ensuring full transparency throughout the supply chain.

Across these three themes, Denim Première Vision offers more than a reading of the season—it provides a tangible, actionable vision of where denim is heading next. To fully grasp these shifts, experience the materials, and engage with the innovators behind them, Milan is the place to be on 20 & 21 May.
