During the next edition of Denim Première Vision, taking place on 21 & 22 May, we are honored to present a tribute to one of the most influential figures in the history of denim and textile innovation: Luigi Martelli. “A Journey Through the Legacy of Luigi Martelli” is more than an exhibition; it is a living testimony to five decades of evolution in fashion and industry, seen through the eyes of a man who redefined the way denim is crafted and finished.

Hommage à Luigi Martelli

This project has been made possible thanks to the foresight of Première Vision, which has always been attentive to its supply chains and the partners that contribute to its ecosystem. Under the creative direction of Fabio Adami Dalla Val and OPAA, with the collaboration of Adriano Goldschmied and Giovanni Petrin and the support of Martelli’s family, the tribute will offer an unprecedented look into Martelli’s legacy, showcasing archival materials, including rare garments from M.O.D.E., the Museo del Denim, that have rarely been exhibited before.

A Visionary Pioneer

Luigi Martelli was not just an entrepreneur; he was a visionary who laid the foundations for an entire industry. His company, Martelli Lavorazioni Tessili, revolutionized textile finishing, setting new standards that shaped the modern denim sector. From his earliest innovations to his relentless pursuit of excellence, Martelli transformed an industry that, before him, barely existed in its current form. Today, anyone working with indigo owes a part of their craft to his pioneering spirit.

A Tribute Built on Friendship and History

This project is the result of invaluable contributions from two key figures who have walked alongside Luigi in his extraordinary journey: Adriano Goldschmied and Giovanni Petrin. Their deep personal connections with Martelli, along with their firsthand experience of his impact, have shaped this tribute into an emotional and historical narrative. The space dedicated to this exhibition at Denim Première Vision is not just a retrospective; it is a message to entrepreneurs, young designers, and all those who feel part of the denim community.

An Emotional and Inspirational Experience

The tribute will guide visitors on a journey through more than 50 years of denim history, intertwining past, present, and future. Through carefully curated garments, archival materials, and personal stories, attendees will immerse themselves in Martelli’s legacy. More than a collection of achievements, this exhibition is an experience that conveys the depth of his influence on both the industry and the people.

Connecting Generations

This homage is not only for those who knew and worked with Luigi Martelli but also for the new generations who may not yet be familiar with his name. By bridging the past with the present, the exhibition aims to highlight how his innovations and human approach to business continue to shape contemporary fashion, design, and textile production. His legacy is a testament to the power of craftsmanship, relationships, and visionary thinking.

The Dual Journey: Physical and Digital

Visitors will engage with Martelli’s story in two distinct ways:

Physical Journey: A curated selection of infographics, exclusive archival garments, and historical milestones that trace the evolution of Martelli's company alongside the broader history of denim and fashion, including rare pieces from M.O.D.E., the Museo del Denim.

Digital Journey: Exclusive conversations with friends and industry figures who will share intimate memories and insights, offering a unique perspective on Luigi Martelli’s professional and personal legacy.
