Do ‘real’ and ‘abstract’ have to be opposites? In color, pattern and texture, dreams rule the Spring-Summer 2024 season. New limits are defined, moving from blurriness into sharp focus. No longer contradictory, virtuality and materiality merge, dialogue and intermesh.
Between traditional pictorial techniques and high-tech digitization, the season’s decors signal a return to nature and vegetation. Natural figurative elements, such as floral motifs, illustrate hallucinatory digital visions. Infinitely small and infinitely large merge on giant canvases, introducing new dimensions in clothing.
Clothing emancipates itself from small scales, with motifs inspired by furniture fabrics. This phenomenon is accompanied by a return to a certain naturalness. Cotton, linen, embroidery, and lace techniques borrowed from the old-fashioned trousseau… The organic nature of materials and the techniques used to work them herald an era of ingenuous simplicity.
