DuPont™ Tyvek® – a nonwoven material made from high-density polyethylene fibers – offers a portfolio of tough, durable sheet products that are stronger than paper and more cost-effective and versatile than fabrics. Since Tyvek® was initially discovered in 1955, DuPont™ Tyvek® has introduced new dimensions of protection and safety in a wide variety of industries, including building envelopes, protective garments, medical packaging, and various industrial protective packaging.

Today, Tyvek® is being discovered by the designers as an innovative material for lifestyle consumer product development.

There are two different types of Tyvek® products used in design and consumer applications: paper-like hard structure and fabric-like soft structure. Each comes in multiple grades for selection. DuPont has been also collaborating with value chain customers to enhance the flexibility of Tyvek® in color, shape and structure to help enable an infinite possibility of the design.

Fashion designers are fascinated with the unique paper-like look and feel of Tyvek® material and its convertibility and versatility. More and more consumer brands have launched products designed with Tyvek® material that focus on a contemporary design and a sustainable lifestyle.

“DuPont™ Tyvek® material, as a paper-like fabric, fills the gap between woven and knitted fabrics. It provides a huge space for designers. In our fabric library for fashion designers, Tyvek® products are indispensable in its category. No other material has the look & feel and performance of Tyvek® material. Exploration on Tyvek® in THINGER will never stop.” — Miao WANG王淼, Founder & Principal Designer, THINGER Textile

“My first impression of DuPont™ Tyvek® material is its natural sense of fashion and style. Then I learnt about all the creations with Tyvek® material across different categories and understood the characteristics of this material better. Being recyclable, reusable and upcycle is my favorite. I would love to use Tyvek® material for making some daily necessities.” – Yueyue XU许月月, Fashion Designer

“DuPont™ Tyvek® material looks like paper, very trendy. We know it is an artificial fiber and this gives the strength of this material, but the look is very natural product. So, we say “why don’t we try to use it for furniture!” Our series of sofa products made with Tyvek® material are very appreciated by our customers because they look so surprising.” –Toni Racioppi, Founder/CEO, Lazy-Life Paris

Note: DuPont™ Tyvek® material is made of HDPE. Products made of 100% unconverted Tyvek® material can be recycled at facilities that recycle flexible HDPE materials. Please check recycling facilities in your area to ensure they can recycle Tyvek®.
