Spring-Summer 25

The addition of a metallic gold component, rubber outdoor patch or decorations in brightly-colored biosourced plastic can instantly transform a product or a silhouette. For the Spring-Summer 25 season, components are constantly being upgraded, and with new materials derived from agri-food residues, vegetable dyes, upcycled inclusions and non-toxic, water-saving finishes, accessories more than ever reflect fashion’s evolution in the face of environmental issues.

Protean Resources

Repurposed or biosourced, deposits hidden in agri-food residues, aquatic plants and textile waste serve a variety of uses, with biopolymers derived from plant waste transformed into flexible, hard-wearing soles for everyday sneakers.

To minimize issues linked to deforestation, meanwhile, label and ribbon producers are experimenting with lotus and algae to develop wood-free cellulose pulp. Innovations are all about enhancing natural materials, combining the look of wood, say, with unexpected flexibility. Thin wood veneers from sustainably managed forests, for instance, become ultra flexible thanks to the action of a biosourced resin derived from sugarcane bagasse.

Functional components such as polybags feature alternatives to petrochemical polyethylenes, such as recycled celluloses, ideal for protecting products while minimizing the use of fossil resources. When they arrive in store, products fit into place on redesigned hangers made from compressed recycled cotton.

Responsible Tech

Sustainable design combines intelligent functionality with environmental awareness, including Himalayan nettle zips, where traceability is embedded in the heart of the fibers. Right from the raw material stage, Haelixa’s non-toxic DNA markers are sprayed onto the plants, and can be verified with a rapid PCR test to guarantee their origin and authenticity. Another option for tracking products involves incorporating an NFC chip to trace the various stages of the life cycle and access care or recycling information.

For components, the focus is on natural rubber cultivated from rubber trees, to provide suppleness, elasticity, rebound and naturalness. Recycled soles and retroreflective panels play the utilitarian card, with a streamlined look, while packaging is given a new lease of life with ultra-resistant technical straps, developed in paper.

Virtuous Transformations

Finishing transforms components to give them a technical or metallic appearance. For rugged outdoor performance, or for everyday use that defies the durability of accessories, coatings provide water-repellent properties or reinforce resistance. Finishes are water-based, solvent-free or derived from plant co-products. Labels are sheathed in a thin layer of recycled silicone, or feature technical laser-engraved decorations.

Metal components come in raw stainless steels or treatments using heat and water for controlled oxidation, free of chemical additions. For applications of embellishments with gold, silver or copper highlights, metal baths are made nickel-free, or with low-impact galvanizing technologies such as PVD, which uses a steam process to deposit ultra-resistant fine metal particles.
