Monochromes exceptionnels

A feeling of calm, unified decoration and minimal, discreet opulence. Tone-on-tone embroideries and monochromatic, embossed and damask jacquards whose often floral designs are expressed through texture and contrast. Monochromatic effects vaunt their full grandeur this Spring Summer 19 season, whether on dense fabrics for evening and special occasions, on more fluid everyday fabrics, or on ultra-fine leathers that continue to grow more technical and artisanal. Outstanding creations and solid colours join together to fashion a rich universe.

Italy’s Girani perfectly expresses this vision of monochromatic, tone-on-tone decoration, unveiling a range of discreet but consistently luxurious fabrics. Printed damask jacquards in natural fibres and other precious blends are adorned in experimental finishings for a captivating feel. Floral prints favour abstract patterns, in limitless sizes, for mysterious and delicate evening dresses.

Leathers are also included in these exceptional monochromes. At Italy’s Giancarlo Caponi, a hand-made embroidery adorns a leather, a noble material in its own right. The joining of these two exceptional know-hows in a single shade creates a feeling of unpretentious opulence. These enhanced, exceptionally fine leathers speak to a less glitzy yet still sumptuous form of luxury.

Tonal colourways are evoked in pastel nuances at the Italian manufacturer Effepierre. A range of hand-drawn floral motifs bring a print liveliness to yarn-dyeds and jacquards. These sensitive and delicate embellishments are infinitely interpreted, in cut-yarns, light or heavy versions, damasked, embossed, cloqué, or quilted.

Monochromes strike a minimal note for the upcoming season at Turkey’s Özçimen Textile, with wavy raised effects on woven jacquards, or transposed onto functional fabrics in cotton, linen, viscose, acrylic and polyamide. Fresh and energetic colours further enhance these hazy textured effects with their very soft handles.

A slubbed effect creates a not-quite monochromatic look at India’s Damodar Industries. Injected with colour, polyester, viscose, cotton, and linen blend yarns lend an ultra-structured look to the fabric, underpinning a subtly textured feeling. A soft collection through and through, with a lineny, silky or woollen look.
