Who is Daesung Lee, the artist who created the new Première Vision Paris promotional campaign?
Born in 1975, Daesung Lee is a South Korean photographer living in Paris.
After graduating with a Master of Fine Arts – Photography Option from Seoul University, he began his career in commercial photography before turning his focus to documentary photography.
Since then, his work has focused on globalization and its social and environmental consequences.
From 2008 to 2010, he produced a series of photo essays dedicated to working conditions and the environment in mining towns in Asia.
Starting in 2010, with two projects in particular, he began developing a more conceptual approach to documentary photography, using photography as a means of communicating his understanding of the world.
His work has been exhibited in numerous international festivals, including Photoquai and La Gacillly in France in 2015. His work has also been widely featured in international publications, including Le Monde, International Courier, Libération, Geo Magazine Germany, The Guardian, CNN, The New Yorker and The Washington Post. Daesung Lee was a finalist in the “Sony World Photography Awards” in 2013 and 2015. He won the ‘Lens Culture Award – Portrait Category’ in 2015 and the ‘Voies-Off Award’ in 2016.
