The Cope of Saint John

The Liturgical Vestments of the Order of the Golden Fleece.
Gold, silver and silk embroidery, pearls, glass beads and velvet applique on linen, about 165 cm (radius).
Between 1433 and 1442 Robert Campin designed three embroidered copes commissioned by Philip the Good. These copes were probably produced in the workshop of Thierry du Chastel, an embroider who originally came from Paris.
