MV 1843, a dynasty of trimming manufacturers

MV 1843 (Pianezza, Italy)
This family dynasty of Italian trimming manufacturers, based in Pianezza near Turin, dates back to 1843, when it was founded by Vittorio Massia. Whether a restoration of antique pieces or a new product, the final result is largely hand-made.
Three generations later, the use of historical looms is combined with new technologies like laser-cutting or flocking. The braids and trims woven on jacquard looms or crochet machines incorporate components such as lava stones, wood, metal, feathers, leather, chainlets or crystals.
MV 1843 is also home to the «Museo della Passamaneria» (Museum of Trimmings). The company has also done work for the Royal Houses of Holland and Spain, Savoy residences, as well as many metropolitan museums, castles and distinguished private residences.
From February 12-14, 2013, MV 1843 participates in Maison d’Exceptions, the space at Première Vision dedicated to haute création.
