Marie-Ange Guilleminot, Artist, at the Maison d’Exceptions show

(English subtitles available)

“My work has always been triggered by materials. The material and the production of a material, its creation is exciting to me. To be able to have this exchange, this dialogue with a craftsperson, is to discover a material that will lead to the realization of a new work. Whether textile, porcelain, wood, each is an opportunity for a new material and a new way to make work. I worked with CIRVA in Marseille, a glass research center that invites artists to do projects around glass; each invitation is a chance to develop a new way of working and to experiment.

Research itself interests me a lot. But also collaboration. I think of Sevres Manfacturing, where I also produced an artwork in biscuit porcelain. Here the object was to understand the material, expound on it, find its essence, beauty and utility. The material often a pretext for something else.”
