Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio, the art of silk

Working with the finest silk yarns and most precious metals, the Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio, founded in 1906, creates fabrics featuring the most exclusive weaves in the world: figured velvets, brocades and lampas. Nurturing and safeguarding techniques and know-how passed down from the Middle Ages to the present, the Lisio Foundation is located on a hill near Florence, in Italy, in the heart of the very Tuscan countryside that has inspired artists, humanists and scientists for centuries.
As heirs to an Italian culture and craftsmanship, weavers and designers work together to produce unique fabrics for those able to recognize the truly exceptional: the shine of silk, its reflections, and the rich and subtle contrasts created when this noblest and most supple of fibres is woven with gold, cashmere, raffia or feathers…
The Foundation’s mission is to ensure the survival of the art of silk weaving. It houses a research centre, a design school, and a production unit for weaving silk fabrics by hand.
From February 18-20, 2014, Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio participates in Maison d’Exceptions, the space at Première Vision dedicated to haute création.
