Antica Manifattura Cappelli, the art of hat-making

In their historic atelier, founded in 1936 in the center of Rome, a team of milliners continue in the manner of traditional savoir-faire, hand-forming felt, straw, fur and fabric and adorning them with flowers, feathers and fruits.
Thanks to the mastery of steam, they model by hand with wooden forms hats and other headwear, giving life to the most fantastical drawings of the big names in Italian fashion as well as those of theater and film costumers.

The house archives stretch to the beginning of the 20th century, the result of the work and research of the Cirri family, a clan of hat-makers for three generations. This inestimable base permits a constant revisitation to the historical variety of forms and thanks to the multiple know-hows in the atelier they may be adapted to the trends of the moment. The variety of the techniques acquired, in combination with the use of novel materials, allows for experimentation in creating quite audacious volumes.
From February 18-20, 2014, Antica Manifattura Cappelli participates in Maison d’Exceptions, the space at Première Vision dedicated to haute création.
