This season, creative ideas revolving around movement bathed Première Vision Paris and Première Vision Sport in Portland in a positive energy, demonstrating a desire to broaden the field of possibilities, for fashions full of energy.

Awakening the senses to further action and movement, pushing the boundaries, dancing to celebrate the future: like an ode to life, Sport & Tech looks steer clear of the familiar, ready to move indoors and out, by day or by night.

Coats and jackets

For S/S 21, workwear details and cuts are on the upswing for coats, jackets and other sleeved garments.

For early spring, cropped and extra-light down jackets are adorned with new round or zig-zag quilted decorations and enhanced with cosy comfort. Made in pastel or metallic down-proof polyamide plain weaves, they are featherweight, perfect for offsetting a vaporously light floral dress worn with outsized jelly-sole sneakers.

Parkas are also set to play a key role, and can be improvised as evening items. Water-repellent, as fine as colourful layers of tracing paper, they fit right in the palm, ready to be pulled out as soon as night falls.

Braving the city and weather to twirl the night away has never been so pleasant. Cuts are full and elongated, and tight at the waist, as if ready to let the wind rush in. Super airy versions are worked in transparent polyamides, sometimes in double-faces, that barely let the soft, low light of the setting sun shine through. Elaborated in a range of cold pastels, the season’s new parkas are enhanced with subtle, barely iridescent coatings.

New coats are also arriving on the market. Oversized, bat-sleeved, with ergonomic cuts highlighted by colour-blocking, they nostalgically evoke 1990s sport wear, enhanced with performance and eco-responsibility.

Garments trimmed with motifs that light-up and reflect at night, with a somewhat futuristic air, become indispensable regalia next season –  so you never go unnoticed during parties stretching late into the evening.

In tops, sweatshirts find a new freedom and step beyond our cosy interiors to proudly vaunt a casual yet refined look. Ever so slightly show-off evening versions are made from subtly satiny materials – because this season, shine is worked with a light hand. Reflections alternate between matt and shiny, and are revealed when in motion, thanks to lustrous viscoses or fluid and shiny double-faced piqués.

While the hoodie remains a must, zipped versions now look like light and comfortable jackets. From the large kangaroo pockets to the colourblock details, codes are clearly borrowed from sports apparel, but given an offbeat spin through the use of fluid, silky and eco-friendly materials such as cotton Lyocell blends, or cotton, polyester and elastane blends with water-repellent properties.

Elegance is also conveyed through sleeve iterations – balloon, leg of mutton, ruffled – all perfect ways to amp up the fullness and stand out from the crowd by ensuring optimal comfort.

In the accessories family, shine is dimmed for next spring-summer.

Textile accessories – cords, drawstrings, elastic bands – go in for unobtrusive, colourful shine, worked in satin bases or with tone-on-tone Lurex details. Cardboard or woven labels are elaborated in a range of watercolour rainbow pastels. Metallic accessories are adorned in iridescent voiles to cover zips and buttons in pearly transparency and create subtle pastel shot reflections.
