What apparel is made of matters. Today’s most innovative brands are developing alternatives to popular but environmentally harmful materials and using recycled fabrics to cut back on waste in a bid to be more sustainable. Reforming production processes isn’t easy – the brands that do it best have sustainably minded missions built into their core ethos. From these industry leaders, brand executives can learn what it takes to improve the materials they use in their supply chains, how much they can expect it to cost and what the long-term implications are for practices like eliminating plastic and upcycling used garments. In this session, Hana Kajimura, head of sustainability at Allbirds, and Megan Meiklejohn, sustainable materials and transparency lead at Eileen Fisher, will discuss what they’ve learned from their work in the space and what the industry should know about sustainable material innovation.
Talk moderated by Hilary Milnes Features Editor at Vogue Business.
