ICI Montreuil, a Fablab for the Made in France

ICI Montreuil belongs to the first French network of collaborative and social manufactures for craftsmen, artists, designers, startups and entrepreneurs of the “Make” culture: Make ICI. Founded in 2012 by Christine and Nicolas Bard, the 1700m2 Fablab is located in the heart of the city and welcomes more than 150 creative actors.

The manufacture groups together various workshops dedicated as well to the transformation of materials – wood, metal, leather – as to the trades of fashion and digital or to street art, and offers co-working spaces plus an exhibition gallery-showroom of 300 sqm. Entirely focused on the transmission, sharing of knowledge and collaboration, it makes more than 62 skills available both to professionals, including future entrepreneurs of the Made in France, and to amateurs seeking professional reorientation. In this space, designers will find all the tools and technical support they need to carry out their projects or prototyping.

In all, more than 20 training courses and initiations are offered by ICI Montreuil’s craftsmen in the form of workshops, summer courses, DYI activities and training for the new “Making” professions. Thanks to an à la carte subscription system, everyone can have a workshop and benefit from the skills of a professional member of the structure to carry out their project. ICI Montreuil also takes the form of an incubator which each year accompanies twenty entrepreneurs to accelerate the development of their company and thus becomes the flagship of the Made in France.
