In 2015, to showcase the savoir-faire of tomorrow’s talents and raise their profile within the industry, the ENSAD School of Decorative Arts (ENSAD – Paris), which is celebrating its 250th anniversary this year, created the “Leather Accessory Prize”, awarded during the Première Vision Leather show.

The inaugural award was won by Romain Blot who now works for Dunhill in London, where he designs jewellery and accessories for men.

For its second edition, this honorific prize will go to one of the accessories projects created by the graduates of 2015: Anthony Brugneaux, Jennifer Chambaret, Clara Daguin, Anthony Dartayre, Caroline Grout, Ludovic Léger, Camille Le Puloch, Brigitte Mirault, Clara Patricelli, Kader Tadjer and Jeanne Vicerial.

Envisaged as a springboard for their careers, this year the prize will be awarded by a new jury of designers: Michel Perry will be the President, working with his special guests Martine Sitbon and Nathalie Dufour as well as representatives from industry publications.

The prize will be awarded on Tuesday 16th February 2016 at 1pm in the Première Vision Leather Salon (Mezzanine Hall 3 / Gold Premium Lounge).  Throughout the show, the accessories will be displayed in a dedicated exhibition space, in order to showcase the remarkable talent of a new generation of designers, characterised by their artful blending of traditional techniques and innovation.

In parallel to the official prize, Première Vision Leather is organising the “People’s Prize”. It will be awarded to the accessory that receives the most approval from the experts at the show, an indication of a great commercial career to come! Voting will be open on the Première Vision Facebook page until Tuesday 16th February at 1pm.

The design duo of Gilles Baudoux and Lola Thebault Royet, who were awarded the “People’s Prize” in February 2015, will be there to hand over the baton to their successors. They graduated in 2014 and launched their unisex ready-to-wear collection, named Sempervivum, with its concept of 0% waste, which guarantees that 100% of material is used.  Regular visitors to Première Vision Leather, they find new ways in their ready-to-wear line of working with the laminated and textile coatings traditionally used in the accessories sector.

 MICHEL PERRY
After having cut his teeth in the footwear industry, Michel Perry designed his first eponymous collection of women’s shoes in 1987. Through this collection, he expressed a unique vision at a time where creativity was pretty much nonexistent in the world of shoes. Although his efforts, along with those of his fellow designers, have considerable remodelled the context, Michel Perry has stayed loyal to his first loves and inspirations: the street, rock culture, savoir-faire and elegance. Appointed Artistic Director of JM Weston in 2001, Michel Perry cultivates a penchant for unexpected combinations, respectfully interpreting tradition with a touch of nonchalant elegance. For him, timeless style and comfort are not incompatible. Technically, Michel Perry draws on his bootmaking expertise to improve the innovative nature of the designs and structures.

NATHALIE DUFOUR

For 25 years, the founder of the ANDAM Fashion Award has been driven by a single goal: helping young designers get a foothold in the international fashion scene and catch the eye of journalists and buyers. Since 1989, the jury in charge of bestowing the ANDAM Fashion Award has thus recognised more than 80 emerging talents, and has identified the next generation of star designers, giving awards to names such as Martin Margiela, Jeremy Scott, Christophe Lemaire, APC, Viktor&Rolf, Gareth Pugh or Iris Van Herpen, the 2014 winner.

MARTINE SITBON

When she left Studio Berçot in 1974, Martine Sitbon travelled the world. The countries that she visited, the various cultures, the music and particularly rock music are all endless sources of inspiration and energy for her collections. The woman that she created for her own label and for Rue du Mail is one that is both strong and fragile, feminine and androgynous, romantic and contemporary. She takes garments and reinvents them, according to the mood of the moment.
