Favourites of the jury of the PV Awards 2014

Kenta Matsushige, winner of the Première Vision Grand Jury Prix at the 2014 Hyères Festival
“I’m a very “grey – white – beige” person, but I was really drawn to the colours of this 100% cashmere from Lanificio Luigi Colombo (6J2-6K1). It’s a boiled splittable double fabric that only weighs 870 g/m2. It’s “raised” thickness creates a very lively, very soft and very round surface. I see a really textured garment, fairly luxurious but without being show-off.”

Edward Crutchley, textile and development design consultant for Louis Vuitton Homme
“I’ve selected an assembly from Beste (6K20-6L17). It’s a bi-stretch fabric bonded with a jersey, so what you get is something compact and quite light. You can bond different colours for a high-tech but very luxurious result. It gives you a lot of opportunities to do different kinds of construction – you can heat seal it for example.”

Francamaria Bartolucci, product development, Vivienne Westwood
“This wool-silk (62%-38%) blend from Europ-Marchini (5M24-5N23) is superb. It’s discreet, low-key and noble, with a nice handle. You sense that it’s easy to work with. It’s very smooth, luminous and shot depending on the light, with subtle colours. It can be developed in daywear and evening versions. The silk makes it precious, the wool warms it up.”
