Silvia Rossi, guest designer on Jewel Case
Silvia Rossi has been working for twenty years as a designer and costume jewellery manufacturer. The Fall 2010 collection marked the advent of her brand, Silvia Rossi Gioielli. Her company is based in Trieste, a small Italian town East of Venice.
Silvia built her strong technical knowledge in Italy where she studied as a goldsmith. She later perfected her skills by attending Studio Primateria in Milan, F.I.T. and Parsons School of Design in New York, and Haystack School of Art in Maine.
The inspiration for her work is ever evolving and comes from different sources. However, whether the collection’s theme revolves around nature, has vintage or futuristic inspirations, clean geometric shapes have become Silvia Rossi’s indisputable trademark. Being involved in every step of the making is central to Silvia’s work. Her products capitalise and highlight the intrinsic value of the handmade.
Creating body ornaments is one of the oldest human activities.
“Creating with my hands reconnects me to my primordial part. For me making jewellery represents the search for proportion, scale, sense of balance, harmony of shapes, and beauty. Elements we constantly find in nature and mankind has always tried to interpret through the arts.”
Her distinctive creations are mainly made of acrylic crystal, a material that combines lightness with transparency, and colours that remind those of precious stones. The jewels are manufactured with a material produced exclusively in Italy and handcrafted at Silvia Rossi’s studio.
