Craft the Leather is a training project focused on a group of talented young designers from prestigious international fashion and design schools. By inviting them to work with Tuscan leather, the event showcases the talent of a new generation of accessories designers.
Craft the Leather aims to promote Tuscan vegetable-tanned leather, a high-quality product created by the skilled hands of the Tuscan master tanners. It provides an opportunity to expose the next generation of designers to this high-quality and traditional product.
The program was extended to a selection of eleven of the most influential fashion and design schools: ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem, the Bezalel Academy of Art & Design in Jerusalem, the Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo, the Deutsche Schuhfachschule in Pirmasens, the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, the Hiko Mizuno College of Jewelry in Tokyo, the Kolding School of Design, the Kookmin University in Seoul, the London College of Fashion, the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, the IED in Florence.
Craft The Leather is promoted and financed by Toscana Promozione – Economic Promotion Agency of the Tuscan Regional Government, and organised in collaboration with Consorzio Vera Pelle Italiana Conciata al Vegetale.
